Position Title : JET Intern Safety(Environmental, Health and Safety Programs)

Position Summary:

The JetBlue Emerging Talent (JET) internship program provides skill & professional development through participation in the developing real-world business solutions that support the delivery of strategic business initiatives. Throughout the program, interns participate in a robust programming including professional development activities, cross-functional projects, senior leader exposure, networking, and community service. The JET Program provides interns the opportunity to immerse themselves into the aviation industry while developing specific career interest or areas of study.

The Intern Safety supports JetBlue Airways’ Office of Safety. The Intern will be responsible for administrative duties and projects as assigned, including reviewing data collected by JetBlue’sEnvironmental, Health and Safetyprograms (Injury and IllnessReporting,Data Analysis/Trending/Visualization,IncidentInvestigations,Industry Research, Training Materials, Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials), entering data into JetBlue’s Safety database, creating charts, graphs, and presentations, and supporting investigations, professional presentationsor data analyses. The Intern must be comfortable working in a fast paced, non-routine work environment and must be anengaging professional whose personal values match JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Import,categorizeandassessSafety reports; conduct follow up requests for information

  • Monitor OSHAInjuryLogsfor accuracy and compliance

  • Participate ingenerating responses toOSHA/DOL requestsfor information

  • Inputand manage datawithinthe Safety database

  • Learn database functions in order to efficiently extract,manipulateand narratedata, producing visualizations inExcel andSpotfire

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, charts, and information regardingSafety performancemetrics

  • Develop StandardOperatingProcedures (SOPs)accounting for individual tasks and workflows in the Office of Safety andits integrating processeswith other workgroups

  • Conductindustryresearch, compile data, and prepare materials for consideration and draft presentationstoexplaincollecteddata, upcoming initiatives or SafetyHazards andRisks

  • Support investigations, risk assessmentsand data analyses; leverage data to drive decision making

  • Other administrative functions as needed such as attendingmeetings to record minutes, makingtravel arrangements, and performinggeneral office duties

  • Assist with ad hoc requests and projects as needed

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college or university in an aviationsafety, human factors,healthscience,industrial hygieneor other related field

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Ability to learn and understand new software in detail

  • Ability todissect complex tasks and coordinate work among multiple stakeholders

  • Ability tobe flexible, prioritize, and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Prior internship or working experience at an airline, airport, regulator, or other aviation-related organization

  • Academic course experience in the areas of aviationsafety, human factors,health science,dangerous goods/hazardous materials, incident investigations, training curricula, and/orstatistics

  • Holds FAA Airman Certification (Pilot’s License, AMT License, Dispatcher License) or has undertaken equivalent academic courses for pre-requisite aviation knowledge

  • Experience with content management systems such as SharePoint

  • Ability to work effectively with professionals from diverse technical areas

  • Possess strongcommunication, critical thinking andteam-building interpersonal skills

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomedand able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’sSafety Policy and behavioral standards

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
