Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Windows Engineer in Long Island City, New York (NY). Summary:The Senior Windows System Engineer (SE) is responsible for the design, implementation, engineering and administration of Windows computing systems hardware, software, and storage infrastructure supporting a 24x7 mission-critical environment. These systems are components of IT infrastructure supporting a large e-commerce website, plant operations, delivery logistics and general business services.The preferred candidate is a self-starter and well-rounded professional with strong knowledge in systems and security. The candidate is passionate about technology and eager to work with team members in a fast-paced environment developing solutions supporting business objectives. Candidate will lead or support numerous exciting projects including support for a large-scale, multi-year program transforming IT infrastructure into a hybrid environment consisting of modern local servers and storage systems with physical servers and virtual server instances connected to storage area networks; cloud technology; and hosted solutions. Many of these projects will include disaster recovery and business continuity deliverables and general alignment with best practices.

  • Experience in deploying and managing Microsoft Windows server environment: 2012

  • Experience in deployment and management of complex Active Directory (AD) environment

  • Extensive experience in virtualization technology: VMware (vCenter, and ESXI 5, 5 and above)

  • Experience with web filtering products, anti-spam, and anti-virus solutions preferably semantic

  • Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining backup solutions: preferably Unitrends

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating System and related technology

  • Well versed in internet architecture components such as web, application and database: IIS, MS SQL Server

  • Strong understanding TCP / IP, SNMP. SMTP, SSL, SSH, DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, LDAP and SAMBA

  • Deep understanding of Active Directory Domain Services

  • Fundamental understanding of storage technologies

  • Good understanding of Microsoft file system

  • Working knowledge of PowerShell and VBScript a plus

  • Ability to architect systems using clustering technology to maximize fault-tolerance

  • Ability to accurately define hardware requirements for capacity management and application performance enhancement

  • Knowledgeable of systems auditing implementation and controls; SOX and PCI compliance experiences a plus

  • Must be a self-starter able to work independently and with a team

  • Must be able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have strong written and verbal skills

  • Knowledge of industry standards and frame work (ITIL, ISO, COBIT) a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate with customers, vendors, partners, and business managers across various levels of the organization
