Duties: Responsible for developing a strategy across news, features and reference medical content; developing a mix of original, licensed and adapted content to engage physicians and healthcare professionals in target countries; managing two full time Senior Editors; tracking readership against targets and supporting the member marketing team's efforts via creating and editing medical content for promotions; performing strategic content planning for Spanish and Portuguese editions of medical news; liaising with freelance journalists, copyeditors, clinical editors and others as needed to support the site; collaborating with other departments in launching the Latin America news sites and building communication with site advisors and site advisory board; perform content and faculty planning; solicit authors with expertise relevant to medical content using clinical background to oversee editing and development of relevant content; responsible for coordinating with copyediting and production review; use medical background to perform content updating (homepage, core resource centers, other features as needed); prepare weekly and special MedPulse newsletters as needed; perform content plan revisions based on traffic trends and needs; assist Associate Director of Global editorial operations by developing content for surveys, special reports, and other traffic-driving special initiatives; liaise with government agencies, professional societies and others and attend key professional specialty meetings relating to the medical community, in order to find qualified experts in the medical community for content purposes; ensure that medical information on each site is kept up-to-date and relevant.
Employer will accept M.D. in Medicine, Medical Science, Healthcare, or related field and six years of work experience in job offered or six years of work experience in a related occupation or Bachelor’s in Medicine, Medical Science, Healthcare, or related field followed by eleven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in job offered or eleven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include one year of experience with each of the following: clinical and editorial experience in international markets; experience engaging physicians and healthcare professionals; experience drafting and editing medical or clinical content; overseeing editing and development of content for medical or scientific publications; experience editing content on issues in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various diseases; AMA style editing and writing experience in technical publications or sites; studying Web publishing and website analytics; and experience with a medical print or online publication. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Must be available to travel overseas up to 15% of the time.
